They are two of my favorite things. I have a collection of hearts made from various materials, and in my cottage gardens I also grow roses.  I love their scents, colors and forms.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">In my needlework, I enjoy creating them and here are my two latest pieces. They are made with felt, silk ribbon and embroidery floss.  The silk ribbons are colored with alcohol ink markers. </font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-KPRONvVgsgs/U9ofAdijbQI/AAAAAAAAY0o/7yMDeIKY6so/s1600-h/07-30-heart%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="07-30-heart" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="07-30-heart" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-THjCnZfPTq8/U9ofBsUE3NI/AAAAAAAAY0w/AgxeeyFJGxo/07-30-heart_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="384" height="580" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-t8HgDlaxuX4/U9ofD3sFjKI/AAAAAAAAY04/V878CGqlN2U/s1600-h/07-30-heart2%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="07-30-heart2" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="07-30-heart2" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-sXJzPGmPrlk/U9ofFJTvm1I/AAAAAAAAY1A/JNokW6IpJWk/07-30-heart2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="400" height="604" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-hVCv5x0Hx3o/U9ofGxn87NI/AAAAAAAAY1I/H7AjmdRya_k/s1600-h/07-30-heart3%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="07-30-heart3" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="07-30-heart3" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-57MxkM-TQr4/U9ofIVMxtjI/AAAAAAAAY1Q/na8zL3shKfo/07-30-heart3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="379" height="587" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-guE_t6tDKZ0/U9ofJhBhP0I/AAAAAAAAY1Y/aHVK3_QXvQA/s1600-h/07-30-heart4%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img title="07-30-heart4" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="07-30-heart4" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-pS7C6kdwN_c/U9ofKkwOLNI/AAAAAAAAY1g/Bb_-zPWb20M/07-30-heart4_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="391" height="570" /></a></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS"></font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">I’m just learning to embroider with silk ribbons and enjoy it very much. I miss my husband daily, the grief just isn’t as bad and knowing he is with God, perfectly well, gives me joy.</font></p> <p><font face="Comic Sans MS">**Added 1 April ~ I have been blogging all along, just in my main blog <a href="http://flowerladysmusings.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FlowerLady’s Musings.</a> Blogging has been a blessing and a help to me during this time.**</font></p> <p><font face="Comic Sans MS">I’ve been doing some needlework, embroidery and crochet.  Have just started learning ribbon embroidery and am loving that.  Next on my list of things to get is an order of alcohol markers for coloring silk ribbon.  All I have to have is white silk ribbon and that makes it easier and coloring the silk the way you want it will be fun.  I can’t afford everything I would like to try, colors of hug snug seam binding, or silk ribbons, so I’m just going along and enjoying what I have and can do.  I am ‘learning’ and that helps with grieving and keeping my mind young and active.  My husband would love seeing what I’ve been up to lately.</font></p> <p><font face="Comic Sans MS">Now let’s see what I can find for photos to share here.</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">These next few are a from last year.</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">A crocheted purse.</font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-WaiNvpSeVY4/Uzm4Qkz5oAI/AAAAAAAAXCA/8YAm3G8xWsI/s1600-h/09-12-ecru-purse-finished%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="09-12-ecru-purse-finished" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="09-12-ecru-purse-finished" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-NACBO0aw7FM/Uzm4SY9xjKI/AAAAAAAAXCI/r1nrFKVeY4Y/09-12-ecru-purse-finished_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="493" height="667" /></a></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">A crocheted prayer shawl, for a breast cancer survivor.</font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-n8C9LNMw2bk/Uzm4Uk5-sYI/AAAAAAAAXCM/eL_m1KmhzVc/s1600-h/10-05-susan-shawl%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="10-05-susan-shawl" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="10-05-susan-shawl" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-6-oCH_0113o/Uzm4V-cx3oI/AAAAAAAAXCU/unsgqi0Fg8o/10-05-susan-shawl_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="522" height="455" /></a></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">Embroidered and beaded heart with a crocheted beaded edging.</font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-G8s9RYD7bbY/Uzm4W1qDehI/AAAAAAAAXCg/wf194s5DFCA/s1600-h/10-30-heart2%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="10-30-heart2" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="10-30-heart2" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6_lYD9qE8ak/Uzm4YKmfWZI/AAAAAAAAXCo/WtT6aF-glE8/10-30-heart2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="587" height="455" /></a></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">Embroidered hearts.</font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-OGhrlPoY9CY/Uzm4abOsokI/AAAAAAAAXCs/19ruo8JrrSA/s1600-h/12-15-heart-frnts%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="12-15-heart-frnts" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="12-15-heart-frnts" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zZpPHU94NP4/Uzm4bE0_w4I/AAAAAAAAXC4/yIYuiFKGzo4/12-15-heart-frnts_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="515" height="420" /></a></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">This is the sign over friends of mines shop. I’ve been posting to my two other blogs ~ FlowerLady’s Musings and The Continuing Journey, and forgot all about this one.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">We thought my husband possibly tore his Trap. muscle on the left side of his neck from doing car work and some other stuff at weird angles. That was in August when he woke up with horrific cramping in his neck that lasted for an hour or more. I looked up severe muscle cramping in the neck and came up with the Trap. muscles. If the muscle was torn, it could take up to two years to heal. My husband wasn’t one to go to drs. he had an aversion to them, because of things done to him for bedwetting when he was a boy, so I gave him herbs to calm and heal, massaged his whole body with essential oils for healing and calming too. We prayed for his healing, we had hope, we prayed if it was God’s will to take him home, whatever the problem, then to just do it. I told God if He wasn’t going to heal Mark, then I released Mark to Him. That was hard. Neither of us knew that that was exactly what was going to happen. God took Mark home on the 9th of December. He would have been 65 on the 20th.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">I asked for prayer <a href="http://www.flowerladysmusings.blogspot.com/2012/12/we-would-appreciate-prayers-please.html">here</a>. Mark would want me to continue what I’ve been doing, but I sure am going to miss his love, encouragement and input on all my projects.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">Be thankful for your many blessings. let the petty stuff go, be loving, forgiving, encouraging and live each day to the fullest.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Comic Sans MS">FlowerLady Lorraine</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">P.S. There is quite a bit more done on it, but still more to go. I work on it a little here and there, keeping track of my time.  It is amazing how much time goes into something like this. </font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">I listen to sky streaming music while working in my little creative space. I open up my spreadsheet that DH (dear husband) set up for me that figures my time when I enter figures, then I pick up needle and thread and start again. This piece is a real joy to work on, it makes me feel happy. I love hearts and flowers. This heart is being mounted to the background fabric that it is laying on here. Right now I’m adding a lace edging, which is being sewn on with perle cotton using the French knot stitch, which is anchoring it to the background fabric. I have a bit more of embroidery I want to do and more beads to add too. </font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6QQIw0G4tOg/UD-yY_2MTDI/AAAAAAAAMIs/RP67uEiZeJU/08-30-heart_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" /></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-BpjXFTKGKjs/UD-yaoOZoHI/AAAAAAAAMI8/s8yoE8EN9js/08-30-heart2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" /></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">This is the other piece I put aside for a bit. I keep looking at it to see what all I want to do to complete it. I have enjoyed making this and the scripture verse is a favorite of mine. I’ve got more ‘sand’ to add.</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-QZQEngcREyY/UCw1feK3LSI/AAAAAAAAL50/6shZw8eKvnk/08-15-how-precious_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" /></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"></font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">There is something so calming and enjoyable working with threads and beads. What to use to trace patterns onto fabric?<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Verdana">I am terribly disappointed in some wax free tracing paper I bought at Walmart, for tracing patterns to fabric. It doesn’t work. I used a nice stylus type tool, pressed hard, and nothing. I tried the red and the blue, blue was a little better, but faint and missed spots in the drawing.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Verdana">I have some antique patterns I want to embroider and bead, but HOW do I get them onto the fabric?</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Verdana">I’m going to take this paper back to Walmart and hopefully will get a refund. So, I brought them out to light of day, and decided to try using what was inside the small one first. The first try was with size 10 crochet thread, because I like small threads, but I made two mistakes and didn’t like the way it looked. Hurray.I found a lovely blog called <a href="http://www.embroidery.rocksea.org/">Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials</a>. Her pictures are great and her explanations easy to understand. So, I made my first little whipped wheel and I have a feeling this is going to be a favorite stitch now that I've got the hang of it. I've got more to do on this little sample, then I'll take a picture.<br />

I'm way behind and this one stitch has had me stumped for quite sometime now. I'm discouraged. I've looked at you tubes and none were the whipped stitch. I looked at Sharon's page of instructions and couldn't figure out the stitch that way either.<br />

Can someone please <span style="color: red;">HELP</span> me with this?<br />
<br />
If these are only the basic stitches, then I'm lost already. I had trouble with a couple of other 'simple' stitches in the beginning and told my DH that I would never try using those stitches in any projects. Some stitches I can get right away, others, forget it.<br />
<br />
I'm going to try the next stitch before I break down in frustrated tears. :-) <br />

Here I was so gungho to start and after three pooped right out. Too much going on, gardening, helping DH with the caravan, home caring, work. I know I’ve much to learn with all the stitches so really should keep up with them. I am a procrastinator too, so that doesn’t help. </p> <p align="center">A week or so ago I created the beaded and embroidered heart below.  Still have to mount it and put it into the frame, then get it listed on Etsy. I did this little piece yesterday.  I used a variegated green crochet thread, and as I was working on the stitch, I thought these little plants I was making looked kind of like the asparagus ferns that grow all over the place in my gardens. They have thorns that you don’t see until it is too late, as in you feel them first, and they have these little red berries. They are hard to get rid of as they have really ‘hang on tight’ to the earth tubers that run underground.  They are pretty and lacy looking though and that’s why I got them in the first place.</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">So, here is my rendition of the feather stitch.</font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-AsFtE0552i4/Tx6xUlKIciI/AAAAAAAAJYs/MYuw-UU8K_4/s1600-h/01-23-feather-stitch%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><font face="Comic Sans MS"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="01-23-feather-stitch" border="0" alt="01-23-feather-stitch" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-w8Wn42r-Lo8/Tx6xWjl3XnI/AAAAAAAAJY4/BJsXnir5a1w/01-23-feather-stitch_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="622" height="445" /></font></a></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">Today the next stitch should be posted and I look forward to seeing what that one is going to be.</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS">I’m putting my stitch samples in a photo album that I got for free in with some craft goodies. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because I had wanted to make a cover piece too. So, I decided to combine it all and the results are below. </span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">I used Perle cotton, embroidery floss, and variegated tatting thread. Fly stitches the first stitch for us this year, make up the ferns. There are LOTS of ferns in our gardens. The fly stitch is also used for the flowers, the butterfly and the sun. The buttonhole or blanket stitch (which I need to work on), is the border. I also used the basic straight stitch and French knots.</span></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-tcKEstIujXA/Tw7UPpwSugI/AAAAAAAAJIk/vdF0F01ws08/s1600-h/01-12-header-fly-button%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;"></span></a><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-tcKEstIujXA/Tw7UPpwSugI/AAAAAAAAJIs/VY20MOU205E/s1600-h/01-12-header-fly-button%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="01-12-header-fly-button" alt="01-12-header-fly-button" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-GjYtgZ6km5s/Tw7UZtZVU1I/AAAAAAAAJIw/FizO7ApOBKQ/01-12-header-fly-button_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="837" border="0" height="626" /></a></span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">If there are any of you out there who wish to learn embroidery stitches this is a great way to do so. It is gorgeous here in s.e. FL. The sun is shining, there are clouds drifting by over head and there is a nice breeze with strong gusts now and then, which set the wind chimes to playing their music. </span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">I work again today at my job, and then will have a few days off. I usually work Thurs-Sat. </span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">There are so many ideas running through my head for needleworking, plus I’ve been working on setting up my Etsy shop, which sure takes time and is a little nerve-wracking until I get the hang of it. I’ve gardening to catch up on, laundry to wash, clean laundry to fold and put away, homecaring to do, etc.</span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">I am a new member of Stitchin’ Fingers a place where needle workers can show their stuff, ask questions, see tutorials, learn so much and be inspired by some beautiful creations. Each Tuesday she will show us and encourage us in learning another embroidery stitch and I can hardly wait. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up with everyone of them, but I sure am going to try. It will be challenging and fun.</span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">Life can keep us busy and hopefully we can find time to be creative, if only for a few minutes a day. No matter what it is, setting a place setting at your table, a bouquet of flowers on your desk, cleaning, needleworking, painting, woodworking, homeschooling, cooking, let us try to do it with joy and thanksgiving adding creative touches along the way.</span></p> <p align="center"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;">Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady</span></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-bpeljY5I_wQ/TtD80ixz1LI/AAAAAAAAIY4/bA9_5QqyIoM/s1600-h/12-07-peace%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="12-07-peace" alt="12-07-peace" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-7LxLkYEcqg8/TtD82-xmXgI/AAAAAAAAIZA/2mCqw_Q_VDw/12-07-peace_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="558" width="582" border="0" /></span></a></p>FlowerLady Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17678852154334714784noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552056764348929422.post-13931391834552326642011-11-22T05:10:00.001-08:002011-11-22T05:10:42.065-08:00My Etsy shop<p align="center"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">Good morning everyone ~ Sandy I couldn’t find myself on Etsy yesterday either.  Then I remembered something I read when I changed my shop’s name.  For 30-45 days, I can’t remember which, I will be connected to my old name for those who knew it from the old name, so they can find me, then it will change to new name.  You can go to my old shop </font><a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/PlumCottageCreations?ref=si_pr"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">addy</font></a><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS"> and in the left side bar you will see a link to shop </font><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/FlowerLadysCreations"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">FlowerLady’s Creations</font></a><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS"> and get to new shop that way.  Which by the way, has nothing in it yet.  </font></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-IyxCQFlhtGs/TsufTjvXPFI/AAAAAAAAIYo/W9KTlkkrLdM/s1600-h/banner%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="banner" border="0" alt="banner" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-M0d9RLSaJ5Q/TsufUaELRlI/AAAAAAAAIYw/SKMLIbvxtpE/banner_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="685" height="108" /></font></a></p> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">I’ve got to work on my announcement.  Yesterday I worked on the banner and finally got it up, and am pleased with it.</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">I don’t know if I’ll open before Christmas, or wait until the new year.
