Hearts and Roses

Good morning fellow crafters ~ I thought I’d show my latest two creations.

Hearts are a symbol of love and roses are an ancient symbol of love and beauty. They are two of my favorite things. I have a collection of hearts made from various materials, and in my cottage gardens I also grow roses.  I love their scents, colors and forms.

In my needlework, I enjoy creating them and here are my two latest pieces. They are made with felt, silk ribbon and embroidery floss.  The silk ribbons are colored with alcohol ink markers.

I’m just learning to embroider with silk ribbons and enjoy it very much. Using the alcohol ink marking pens is nice too as I don’t have to have all colors of ribbons, just white in 3 sizes.  Can any of you tell me where I can get 5/8” organza ribbon and also places to buy silk ribbon? I bought the ribbon I have from Thread Art.

Very good videos online for ribbon embroidery are by Crafty Attic.  I would buy from her but she accepts PayPal only. You will enjoy her videos.

That’s it for now.

Your roses are very pretty and a good idea to use the ink pens. I am not sure about buying ribbon, I am sure you will find an internet site somewhere.

Hi Lorraine,

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. It is always so nice to receive a comment.

Your work is stunning! I just received an email from Lion Brand that they are carrying silk chiffon ribbon. I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for, but I thought I would let you know. www.lionbrand.com

Have a wonderful day!

Your ribbon flowers are just beautiful. It's a craft that you do not see much any more . . . I'm delighted to see that some people are still doing it and keeping this lovely art alive and well. Stunning, absolutely stunning:)

They are so beautiful! I really like the darker pink inside the lighter pink. I would love a smaller one that I could make into a pin and put on my winter coat! Lovely work. Hugs to you.

Lorraine, your heart needlework is beautiful!! I used to collect heart things years ago and then stopped somewhere along the way. You are making me realize that I should revisit that. :)

Thanks so much for the very sweet comment you left me today.
