I am terribly disappointed in some wax free tracing paper I bought at Walmart, for tracing patterns to fabric. It doesn’t work. I used a nice stylus type tool, pressed hard, and nothing. I tried the red and the blue, blue was a little better, but faint and missed spots in the drawing.
I have some antique patterns I want to embroider and bead, but HOW do I get them onto the fabric?
I’m going to take this paper back to Walmart and hopefully will get a refund. It was $3 and some change and I don’t have money to just throw away. Sheesh!
Any help will be appreciated.

HI! I was just at a friends house yesterday and she showed me a roll of tracing paper she bought - can't remember the name of it but I'll find out and let you know. I used some of it and loved it. Thing is you trace your design onto the paper (something like a heavier tissue paper) and then baste it to your fabric). Then you stich right over your traced out design - once finished, the paper pulls off very easily without any problems to your design.
I'm with Nicki Lee on this issue. I bought Master's Touch Tracing Paper at Hobby Lobby. It works perfectly with the technique Nicki Lee described.
And just for the record, $3.00 is $3.00...too much to just throw away.

Is your fabric see-through when held up to a window? If so, I would just trace the pattern onto the fabric with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. I tape both the fabric and the tissue to the window and that works pretty well for all fabrics except dark ones. I like prick and pounce methods too but probably the one I use most is tissue transfer...like NickiLee suggested. I use plain old tissue paper left over from shopping bags...nothing fancy and it doesn't cost me a dime. Hope that helps.
